COSME is a subcommittee of the Spanish Economic Association founded to monitor the status of women in the economics profession and to undertake activities that improve their position.
Among other activities, in the Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía (SAEe) - the annual meeting of the Spanish Economic Association - COSME sponsors the COSME Invited Lecture and promotes COSME Sessions in which the topic of research is gender economics. In addition, COSME offers a day-care children service. More information here.
Since 2010, COSME also organizes jointly with FEDEA a workshop for those junior and senior researchers interested in gender economics.

The next edition of the Workshop on Gender Economics will take place in Madrid, on May 24-25 2012. The aim of the Workshop is to provide junior and senior researchers interested in gender economics a forum for the presentation and discussion of research papers representing current advances in the field. COSME at the SAEe 2011
The past Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía (SAEe), was held in Málaga, Spain, on 15-17 December 2011. The COSME invited lecture was on Friday 16 December 2011, 13:00 - 14:00, in Room Paraninfo by Rachel Kranton (Duke University and Paris School of Economics): Beyond Money and Markets: Networks and Identity in Economics.
In addition, the Spanish Economic Association, through COSME, aims at fostering high-quality research on gender issues. For this purpose, there were five COSME Sessions at the SAEe 2011, in which the general topic of research was gender economics.
The papers presented in these sessions followed the same refereeing process as all other submissions to the SAEe.

White Paper on The Position of Women in Science in Spain
Results from the work titled “White Paper on The Position of Women in Science in Spain”
were presented in a Poster Session at the XXXV Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía, held in Madrid in 15-17 December 2010. The whole work is available here.
